I can't stop coughing, I need HELP?

I'm Sixteen and I'm continuously coughing my lungs out. I have not yet seen a doctor. but my throat isn't sore or swollen neither is there anything on my lungs. I think it might be slime, like a snot like substance but I'm not sure. Any advice besides from going to a doctor?
