Did i do everything right? boy, girls?

i finally got the guts to tell my crush that i really like her. i asked her over the phone if she liked me too. she said yeah. i then went on to tell her that the reason i backed off her earlier in the year, was because i thought she had a bf. i told her that she was the main reason i came back home from school once i found she never did have a bf. she said "awww". then she called me shy in a flirtatious kind of way and we joked around with that going back and forth. i don't want to sound sappy. did i tho? should i have handled it differently? we're both 19 by the way.
