I have a new router for my notebook from my desktop and I can't connect to ATT any clues as to why?

AT&T is may DSL provider and they could not help, as well as Linksys, the brand of router I bought. As a matter of fact the Cisco technical support person was extremely rude. I am returning the router tomorrow.
