Why does my cat drag blankets around the house?

My sofa is a dark burgundy colour and my cat (Charlie) likes to curl up on the sofa while I'm at work. Quite often when I get home, or sometimes in the morning, I will find this blanket on the bathroom floor. Once, he dragged it all the way upstairs and I found it in my shower stall. Why does he do this?
